The essence of The unEssential Tarot is simply to break down the traditional Rider-Waite tarot deck. The entire concept of this new Kickstarter deck creates entirely new images that encapsulate traditional meanings in a humorous cartoon style.
The deck is designed to make divination accessible and enjoyable for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned tarot reader or a complete newbie. I like how it offers a fresh perspective on the age-old tradition of tarot, and it will be a fun deck to pull out during parties or gatherings.
The creator Adam Stoller initially considered naming the deck “Essential” because they aimed to reveal the core essence of each card. But that title felt a bit too serious for such a fun and light-hearted deck. So, with a touch of humor, they added the “un” to the name, making it The unEssential Tarot.
Each deck comes with 78 uniquely illustrated cards, crafted with vibrant colors and whimsical characters and a physical guidebook all packed in a sturdy collector’s box. The unEssential Tarot campaign is ongoing now on Kickstarter, starting from US$35 for the deck.
